About Me

Embarking upon a new career as a home inspector after 21 years in education as a teacher doesn't mean starting from scratch for me. Behind Beckett Home Inspections Inc. is more than three decades of my own hands-on experience in construction and renovations.

Before becoming a home inspector, I spent more than three decades working directly with homes and buildings. Over the years, I've completed numerous renovation projects, including a complete overhaul of my family's home (including a small playground for my 3 girls in the backyard) in Calgary, and worked in a variety of construction settings, gaining practical experience with framing, roofing, structural components, stucco, deck building, and too many details to mention that go into building and maintaining a safe and fully functioning home. It was through these experiences that I was compelled to pursue a career as a home inspector.

I also previously owned and operated a shed-building business in Calgary for four years, giving me firsthand experience managing projects from start to finish and understanding how structures are properly built to last. Through my shed building business, I gained valuable skills and knowledge and understanding of framing, structural elements, various siding applications, aluminum soffit & fascia, and various roofing components and applications, to mention a few.

Now, I am bringing that real-world background into the home inspection profession. While I am beginning my career as a professional home inspector, the meticulous attention to detail I developed and employed through my experience provides me a unique and well-rounded perspective towards inspecting a home. I am resolute in continuing to learn and grow in home inspection, towards providing homeowners peace of mind regarding possibly their greatest of all investments: their home.
